Hubble Telescope to Wait for Some More Time

By | November 6, 2008

It seems that Hubble has to wait for some more time to get repaired. This space telescope is serving us since 1990, traveling around 150 million miles per year with a speed of 5 miles per second.

It has undergone 4 servicing missions till now. Now the NASA has postponed the fifth servicing mission. It is said that the time expected to install a computer in the telescope seems to increase and thus they have to postpone the mission further.

However, they have restarted Hubble after a decent break and it restarted sending pictures to earth. It was in September 2008, that the critical Science Instrument Command and Data Handling failed. Presently it is running on backup unit, but if the backup fails Hubble will be no more useful. This unit is the one through which all the data passes before it is transmitted to the earth.

Hubble has helped our researchers in many ways and has sent amusing pictures of galaxies to earth. Have you seen the recent picture released by NASA taken by Hubble telescope? It is depicting 10. Awesome!
