Career As A Translator

By | July 1, 2009

In the recent days of insecure jobs, it is hard to choose an industry to start your career with. Translation is one of those potential industries, which helps you to stay in a secure career, even in the times of invasions of things like recession.

I will try to explain your career as a translator to some extent.

Translation is to render text from a written format of one language to written format of another. The qualifications required are not much than proficiency to read and write in minimum two languages (obviously the ones which you would translate). Many Universities teach translation techniques along with a second language.

Once you are into the field of translation, you can either be employed in an organization or work as a freelance translator. In my opinion, it is better to join an organization if you are in initial stages of translation. Blunders in translation are too dangerous to handle.
