There are several different types of car auctions which can be attended to buy a car. They are:
- Government car auction: This type of auction is handled by the government. Many cars which are seized from their owners, because of their failure to pay taxes or responsible for any criminal activities are auctioned here. Usually, the vehicles available in this auction will be in good condition and most of them belong to the luxury class.
- Police/city car auction: This type of auctions are handled by the city or police department. They generally consists of cars that were used by the police and other city employees so they have more than regular mileage. As they are driven by several different people and as they were not handled by owner, the cars are not very well taken care of on the inside. So, they cannot be used for more than a two years.
- Public car auction: This type of auctions are accessible to the public and are generally handled by towing yards or other unique auction houses. Many cars which are available here were seized from owner because of failure to pay parking tickets or towing and storage charges. So, the cars will generally be in running condition.
- Dealer’s car auction: This type of auction’s are only accessible to those who have car dealer’s license. They consist of better and newer cars compared to all of the other auctions at cheaper prices. Many cars available in this auction are from dealerships which have removed their old inventory in order to accommodate new.
Before buying used cars or new cars at auctions, always take a mechanic, so that the condition of car can be known.
