Electric Heater is an appliance that converts electrical energy in to heat. Its common applications include space heating, cooking and water heating. Electrical resistor is the heating element in the electric heater which converts electrical energy in to heat energy.
There are different types of electrical heaters, they are
Wall heaters:
They are usually hanged in the wall cavity between two wall studs and most of them are self contained having thermostats. They are generally meant for small spaces. When installed on the exterior walls, these walls will conflict with exterior insulation and the condensation problems with hot metal in a cold exterior wall. Therefore, they should not be installed.
Electric Baseboard Heaters:
In this type of heaters, cool air is drawn from bottom and warmed by heating coils and fins. The warmed air exits from the top slots. The base board heater is controlled using a remote line voltage thermostat.
Kick space Heaters:
These are best suited for the limited Space applications, having size of 3.5″ which allow them to fit nicely in a 4″ toe space under cabinets and vanities. They use motorized air fan to distribute the warm air. Most of the models have built in thermostat.
Electric Cove Heaters:
Electric Cove Heaters does not heat the air, instead they heat the objects directly with the help of radiant heat energy of the panel. Radiant heat allows the panel to be placed anywhere, so this is the reason the cove heater can be located on the wall just below the ceiling. The Electric Cove Heaters comes with a remote line voltage thermostat.
