How to Cure White Scars on Teeth?

By | August 27, 2011

White scars on teeth are common among people and if neglected without treating them can cause other dental problems. They are generally formed due to loss of calcium. People who had worn braces for longer time are often seen suffering from these scars. However, there are even other reasons for the cause of white scars. Whatever the reason may be, it is necessary to cure them.

Based on the disorder that cause white scars, the treatment varies. If the condition arises because of fluorosis, then it is advised to stop drinking water containing high levels of fluoride. You should only consume water in which the fluoride levels are 1ppm (parts per million) or lesser. Simple white bleaching is not just sufficient for treating white scars on teeth if the discoloration has already formed earlier.

The scars are indications of tooth decay. So, make a habit of brushing and flossing the teeth regularly to maintain the dental hygiene. Ensure that you brush and floss twice a day, particularly after meals. Also avoid taking sticky and chewy food items. Do not use teeth whitening strips as they whiten the teeth as well as the scars further. A dentist performs certain chemical processes to treat white scars. So, it is good to set up a microabrasion instead of going for your own options. Consult your dentist for right treatment. Once the microabrasion treatment is done, you need to go for teeth bleaching.

It is, therefore, better to maintain a proper dental hygiene to avoid spending higher costs for such treatments.
