A pillow is a piece of cloth or a sheet stuffed with different materials such as down, feathers, cotton etc. It provides comfort and support to the head, neck and other parts of the body while you are sleeping, sitting or resting. Mainly these pillows will relieves you from common forms of pain such as neck pain, back pain etc. However, these pillows were invented by our ancestors.

History of pillows:
In the early days, only wealthy men of Asia (Egyptians) used pillows. These head rests or pillows were found in pharaohs’ tombs according to the “Really Useful: The Origins of Everyday Things” by Joel Levy, but they were so hard because they are made with materials like stone, solid wood, carved or curved slightly in the middle.

Later soft pillows came and some civilizations preferred for those soft substances. But they robbed the body of vitality, stole energy while asleep and were bad for everything from blood circulation to keeping demons away. For this reason, they made pillows from a wide range of materials including wood, bronze, bamboo and porcelain. Then people of Greeks and Romans preferred materials like reed, straw and feathered down for softer pillows.

Then, in the Middle Ages, many people in the Europe did not use soft pillows except pregnant women and the weak.

Nowadays, there is a huge variety of pillows available in the market with the different materials used for the outer cover such as cotton or polyester or both mixed. The stuffing that is filled in the pillows provides support as well as establishes the comfort level. The filling can be natural such as down, feather, buckwheat, cotton, alpaca wool or sheep wool.

The people who are allergenic to feather stuffing can use synthetic materials such as foam, latex and polyester in pillows. 100% Alpaca wool pillow is the best pillow because it is best for allergen sufferers and it controls the temperature levels.
