Dental braces are devices used in orthodontics treatment for the alignment and straightening the teeth to help to position them in the dental health. Braces are also used to correct under bites, as well as malocclusion, overbites, cross bites, open bites, deep bites, crooked teeth, and various other conditions of the teeth and jaw. If any of these situations are raised to the person, then there is a need of braces and there’s a specific process for placing them on the teeth. If the dentist says that the person should wear braces, that person is called as a orthodontic patient in orthodontics dentistry and the dentist called as orthodontist. But. initially the patient should consult the dentist and the dentist will examine the person’s condition and tells whether that person should wear braces or not. If the dentist says that the person should wear braces, then that person is called as a orthodontic patient in orthodontics dentistry. Before suggesting braces by the dentist, the patient should go under some tests like pan, radiography, photos and study models that were made from the dental impressions taken by the dentist. After studying the reports of the patient, then dentist will decide whether to wear braces or not.
Before placing the braces to the patient, orthodontist will make sure that the tooth is very clean or not and then make it ready for the application of cement. The tooth surface is cleaned with a dental polish. Then the orthodontist retracts the patient’s cheeks with an air dryer to ensure a dry area to work and make it easier to clear view of the teeth (similar to a dental polish after a cleaning). Now placing of brackets starts from here by coating an etch-ant to the teeth in order to stick the dental grade cement to the tooth surface. Then brackets are placed on the cement for bonding and removes the excess cement that comes while placing the brackets on the tooth surface. This will be cured with blue light. And then wires are placed on the brackets and then rubbers are attached to the brackets as well as arch-wire that will help in movement of teeth. Now placing the braces procedure is complete and the orthodontist explains to the patient further adjustments, eating habits and precautions to be taken.
