The types of aromatherapy are divided according to the application and purpose of essential oils. Regardless of the type of aromatherapy the essential oils must always be diluted in carrier oils or water. There are 3 types of aromatherapy.
Cosmetic Aromatherapy:
This type is used to enhance our beauty. Essential oils are added with skin, face, body and hair care products to improve the texture and complexion of the skin. Cosmetic aromatherapy can be done by facials and showers. lavender and rosemary essential oils are used to increase hair growth.
Massage Aromatherapy:
This type of therapy is useful to obtain relief from aches and pains. The essential oils are blended and massage is done by an expert aromatherapist. If you are allergic to few things get a patch test done before you go for a massage because this will prevent you from any kind of itching and unpleasant sensation in your skin after the massage. Eucalyptus and ginger essential oils can be used for the purpose of massage on the affected area. It also helps in healing the joints.
Medical or Olfactory aromatherapy:
Essential oils are released into the environment around you by olfactory aromatherapy either by inhaling or by using diffusers and vaporizers. For inhalation you can dispense the essential oil into your handkerchief and breathe. Diffusion is the evaporation of aromatic components of oil into the environment with the help of aromatherapy equipment.
