Clenching or grinding the teeth creates a tremendous pressure on the temporomandibular joint. Clenching the teeth or tightening the facial muscles causes stress. The problems of the TMJ disorders may start with the pain of jaw muscles or with the joint themselves. Specific medications, dental treatments and surgery are the possible ways of treating TMJ disorders.
