Seasons play an important role in our life. They not only affect the outside environment but also changes the climate and temperature inside the homes. So it is very important to change our life style according to seasons. Especially in case of clothing we have to show special interest. Since they give comfort and protection for us they have to be changed according to the seasons. The same applies in case of pillow covers too.

We have four main seasons namely Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall. Let us check how to use different fabrics of pillow covers for different seasons.

Summer: In summer the climate is pretty hot. Every thing in our home becomes hot if the temperature is too high. So, we always feel like sweating during summers. So the pillow covers which we use for summer should absorb our sweat and give some cooling effect. The only fabric which has the above characteristic is cotton. So always use cotton pillow covers in summer. Since the climate is hot it is better to go for light colors which gives soothing effect.

Winter: Winter chill can be reduced by fabric warmth. We have some fabrics which produce some warmth like the wool and the satin. Since woolen pillow covers are not available it is better to go for thick fabrics like satin and velvet. Both are soft as well as give some warmth when we sleep on them. Dark colors are a better choice in this season.

Spring: Spring is a transition between winter and summer. Since the climate depends upon the region it is better to go according to the present climate. You can use cotton pillow covers for hot climates and silks and satins if the climate is cool.

Fall: Rainy or fall is again the combination of two weathers. Since the weather is always cloudy it is better if you choose pillow cover fabric which dries faster and hence comes the silks and the polyester. They also produce a kind of warmth which is essential for cold nights.

Apart from the fabric it is good if we go by the color and design. But always give second priority to these things. Try to match your room to the season by choosing pastels in the summer, blues and whites in the winter, floral patterns in the spring, and plaids in the fall.
