Another great use with the Twitter account is helping you discover best practices and new tools as well as listening to your customers.

  • Setting up dealership account on Twitter: Name your dealership’s Twitter account as closely to the name of your dealership and make it as much as possible to easily recognize. Fill in all the profile fields like location, web address and bio. While furnishing data, make sure to use original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), city, dealership name and any other unique tags that help recognize you and come up in search. This means you are doing search engine optimization. Ensure to use good quality pictures.
  • Selecting account in-charge: Do not allow the interns or newbies do it. There are thousands of dealerships Twitter accounts abandoned which are started hastily in the beginning. People looking for your dealership account might also follow the same old account, so they miss you completely. Create a dedicated email account and assign the social accounts to that. It makes you work easy to respond to the queries as well to suggest the new people.
  • Connecting: The power of Twitter comes from the followers. You need to get them through account raids, searches and time. Start searching with your original equipment manufacturer’s twitter accounts. Search for your friends, sports teams, local community groups, and nearby dealerships. Once you get a few followers, search their following and add them. Keep connecting or interacting, doing so followers likely to come.
  • Targeted content: Twitter allows you to write 140 characters only, you have to give the impression within this limit. Thus, if you want to share the content from your website, it should be within 140 characters limit. So it is better to make shorter URLs or use the services link www.bit.ly. Use symbols and numbers to shorten the text in your tweets. Which must be easily understood by followers. Do not post too heavy and after too long time gaps. Use content that can attract followers and make them loyal to your dealership.

For Twitter conversations hash tags are critical. These can be used as filters, exclamation points and TV channels. When you poste with a hash tag, clicking on that word in any message will show all other Tweets marked with that keyword. These can be used anywhere in the tweet like in the beginning, middle or at the end. These cover topics of current interest or that are popular. Make sure not to tag a single tweet.
