Organic farming is a form of agriculture that depends mainly on crop rotation, organic fertilizers and plant-based pesticides and herbicides to maintain soil productivity and tilt. It uses fertilizers and pesticides but excludes or limits the use of synthetic manufactured fertilizers, pesticides (includes herbicides, insecticides and fungicides), plant growth regulators such as hormones, livestock antibiotics, food additives, genetically modified organisms, human sewage sludge and materials.
The major reason behind growth and development of this type of farming is that we can grow eating products like dried fruits and nuts, cocoa, spices, herbs, oil crops etc. and non-food items like potted plants, cotton, livestock and cut flowers at very low cost without using any harmful chemical fertilizers.
To our health, chemical-based fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are extremely harmful. Using chemicals in food production can lead to global warming and change the biology of the area. If these are not used, then ultimately it will be a benefit to the environment as well as to the living creatures. In this case, if we go for organic farming, then we can possibly reduce as much as negative effects of global warming. Harmful emissions are not released into our atmosphere and also it will not harm our Eco-system.
