Instrumental language
The function of the instrumental language is for satisfying our personal needs by asking. In general what we ask is what we get, so we should ask in a right way. Regulatory language
This type of language is generally used by the people in order to get the work done from their subordinates or in order to control the behaviors of others. This may include orders, or at subtle levels of manipulating others. But, positive regulatory language is a life skill of parents, management etc.
Interactional language
Interactional language is used for defining or establishing the social relationships and it is the language used in group situations. For example, negotiations, encouragement, expressions come under this language.
Interactional language is effective in building social skills to succeed, to develop awareness and establish relationships, etc.
Heuristic language
This language is used for exploring, investigation, research, to acquire knowledge and understanding, for figuring things, etc. Here, the inquiry is the important function. In general, it is to find out about the world.
Personal language
This language is used when a person talks about himself/herself i.e., it is used to express personality or individuality. Strong opinions and feelings are a part of it. This builds the self-esteem, establishes their own identities and builds confidence.
