Increase in Online Marketing by Small Businesses in Next 12 Months

Previous year, 37 percent of the small businesses have not used any website for marketing or expanding their businesses, according to a survey by Citibank of 552 small business executives across United States. The survey also found that 65 percent of the small businesses are not giving any ads online to increase their business. Moreover, 67 percent of the small businesses have not used search engine for optimization.

84 percent of small businesses have not used e-commerce to sell their products or to increase their services. Almost, 62 percent of the small businesses are not using basic email for marketing their business. 74 percent of the small business owners expressed that they have been effective in generating more business though they did not have a website.

Plans of small businesses in next 12 months:

  • 24 percent of the small businesses are expected to use e-commerce to sell their products online.
  • Around 72 percent of the small businesses are more likely to use a website for expanding or marketing their business. Just 14 percent of the small businesses go for marketing and expanding their business today.
  • About 58 percent of the small businesses are using social networking now. Almost, 30 percent have expressed their thoughts of using social networking sites in the next 12 months such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter for marketing and expanding their business.
