Generally dentists or dental professionals use some tools to treat the patient, such tools are called as the dental instruments. They use tools to examine, manipulate, restore and remove the teeth and etc.
Now a days many types of the instruments are used by the dentists in dental treatments and in surgical procedures. These instruments make the dentists to perform easier and efficient. There is a specific use of each tool. There are some instruments, such as:
Mirror: Mirror is the one of the first things which is used by the dentists. It is a long metal shaft with a small round mirror, which is fixed at the end of it. This mirror is used to make view of the places inside the mouth which are difficult to see directly. Generally this is used by the dentists and hygienists to clean the teeth.
Spoon excavators: This instrument is designed to remove debris and materials, which damage the teeth, from the cavities. This instrument can be of one millimeter, 1.5 millimeter or 2 millimeter in diameter.
Curette: This is another type of instrument which is used to perform the curettage, which is the removal of dead tissue from gum area, in dentistry. This instrument is used to remove the material from the pockets between the gum and teeth.
Scalpel: This is the another type of instrument, which is a straight, sharp knife which slices through the skin and muscle tissue in order to access the inside parts of the body to perform different surgical procedures. This is used in the beginning of the surgeries.
These are the instruments, which are used by dentists in dental treatments. They allow the doctor to perform better treatment.
